Overview
This guide outlines how to configure a guest Wi-Fi marketing portal with email capture on Aruba Central using SocialSign.in Go. It applies to deployments using standard configuration groups managed through Aruba Central. Setup typically takes under 30 minutes.
What You'll Need
- Access to your Aruba Central dashboard
- A SocialSign.in Go account (sign up here)
Step 1: Create a Configuration Group
In Aruba Central, create a new configuration group for your access points. Set the group type to Access Points with templates disabled.
Step 2: Define the Captive Portal
Configure an external captive portal profile that points to SocialSign.in. Your account manager will provide the specific portal and redirect settings during onboarding.
Step 3: Set Up Authentication
Add a RADIUS authentication server under Security → Authentication Servers. Server connection details (IP, port, shared secret) will be provided by your SocialSign.in account manager.
Step 4: Create a Pre-Authentication Role
Under Security → Roles, create a guest logon role that allows traffic to the SocialSign.in login page before authentication while blocking all other destinations. This ensures guests can reach the portal without open internet access.
Step 5: Create the Guest WLAN
Create a new SSID and walk through the setup wizard:
- General: Name your guest SSID
- VLANs: Configure per your network requirements
- Security: Set to Visitor level with External Captive Portal, assign the RADIUS server and captive portal profile from previous steps
- Access: Enable role-based access and assign the pre-authentication role from Step 4
Step 6: Optional — SSL Certificate
Depending on your deployment, you may need to upload an SSL certificate for the captive portal to avoid browser warnings. Your account manager will advise if this is required and provide the certificate.
Step 7: Activate & Test
Once saved, notify your SocialSign.in account manager for testing and final activation. You'll be collecting guest emails in minutes.
What Happens Next?
Guests who connect to your Wi-Fi see a branded login page where they enter their email to get online. Their contact information flows directly into your CRM or marketing platform through SocialSign.in's 90+ integrations.
Common Questions
- Guests not redirecting to the login page? Usually a pre-authentication role issue — your account manager can help verify the configuration.
- Authentication errors? Typically resolved by verifying RADIUS server settings.
- SSL warnings? Means a captive portal certificate needs to be installed — your account manager will provide one.
