Overview
This guide outlines how to configure a guest Wi-Fi marketing portal with email capture on Juniper Mist using SocialSign.in Go. You have two options: automatic setup (recommended) or manual configuration.
What You'll Need
- Access to your Juniper Mist dashboard
- A SocialSign.in Go account (sign up here)
Option A: Automatic Setup (Recommended)
SocialSign.in Go includes a built-in Setup Wizard that automatically configures your Mist network in just a few clicks — no manual dashboard work required.
How It Works
- From your SocialSign.in Go account, open the Mist Setup Wizard for your location
- Generate a Mist API token from your Mist dashboard (Organization → Settings → API Token) and paste it into the wizard
- Select your organization, site, and WLAN — or create a new one
- Click Configure — the wizard automatically sets up the external captive portal, walled garden hostnames, and all required WLAN settings
That's it. The wizard handles the portal URL, authentication mode, allowed hostnames, and radio band configuration automatically. Your guest Wi-Fi is ready to go in under 5 minutes.
Option B: Manual Configuration
If you prefer to configure Mist manually, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Create a Guest WLAN
In the Mist dashboard, navigate to your site and go to WLANs. Create a new WLAN for your guest network (e.g., "Venue Name Guest Wi-Fi").
Step 2: Configure WLAN Security
Set the following on your guest WLAN:
- Security: Open Access (no passphrase)
- Guest Portal: Enabled
- Portal Mode: External Portal
- Portal URL: The URL provided by your SocialSign.in account manager
Step 3: Configure Allowed Hostnames
Under the WLAN's portal settings, add the following to the Allowed Hostnames (walled garden) so guests can reach the login page before authenticating:
socialsign.incdn.socialsign.inassets.socialsign.inerrors.socialsign.in
Your SocialSign.in account manager may provide additional hostnames depending on your deployment.
Step 4: Note the Portal API Secret
After saving the WLAN, Mist generates a Portal API Secret. Provide this to your SocialSign.in account manager — it's used to authenticate guest sessions between Mist and SocialSign.in.
Step 5: Activate & Test
Enable the WLAN and connect a device to test the guest experience. Verify that the SocialSign.in login page appears and that guests can get online after entering their email.
What Happens Next?
Guests who connect to your Wi-Fi see a branded login page where they enter their email to get online. Their contact information flows directly into your CRM or marketing platform through SocialSign.in's 90+ integrations.
